Are Golden Hour Portraits Important at Your Wedding?

Updated: Feb 4, 2022

You've done your getting ready photos, first look, family formals, bridal party portraits, ceremony and now you're wondering... do I need to have more photos done during golden hour?

Our recommendation is always yes and here's why:

Golden hour is the best/most flattering light of the day. There's a soft golden glow that makes for lovely skin tones. The softer sun means you don't need to squint and there won't be harsh shadows under your eyes. On top of that, there's the romance of the golden light surrounding you and watching the sunset with your partner.

It's literally the fairytale ending to walk off into the sunset!

It can be hard to find time to pull a couple from their reception during golden hour, but we find that when we do, our couples are ready for a breather. After visiting through cocktail hour and the emotions of toasts and first dances, being outside as a couple is a nice break to just be together. And with us as your photographers, you know that we will be giving you fun prompts to ensure you are interacting with each other and enjoying the sunset, not just looking at a camera the whole time.

And if you still aren't convinced, see for yourself what that golden light can look like for photos...
